3-b. Seminole Patchwork.

Seminole piecing is an old form of piecing used by the Seminole. They are a Native
American people originally from Florida.
The technique uses strips of fabric that are sewn together to form a band. This band
is then cut apart into small units, which are then sewn together again to form the
final band/strip.
To allow students to finish the top of this wall hanging, some pre-cutting before
class is required.
Seminole strips can be used to make a wall hanging, see picture at right,
or sewn on a tote bag like you see below,
Or as borders around a quilt, see picture far below at right.
