Innercity is based on a pattern found in a Dutch magazine. It was one of my first
dimensional pieces. Made with scrap fabrics leftover from other projects, I chose
blues and greens with contrasting pinks in light, medium and dark shades. The fabrics
are placed so that the light appears to be coming from the upper left, creating a
crystalline-like structure that bring to mind an aerial view of row upon row of apartment
blocks. The pieces were cut using templates, a traditional method, and the quilting
is done by hand.
