2-d. Sashiko by Machine

Sashiko originated in rural Japan in the eighteenth century where women made garments
for the family. The stitching was originally designed for strengthening a single
layer of fabric, patching worn clothing or quilting together several layers.
In this workshop, we are making a notebook cover and learn two different Sashiko
patterns using a 12 weight thread.
This thread is much thicker than most sewing threads, but the stitching can be done
on any sewing machine.
